GUN STORE BURGLARIES

JEFFERSON CITY — The theft of more than 20 firearms at a Fenton gun store last week was the latest in an increase in such robberies at gun stores in Missouri and Illinois, according to federal officials. SENT: 300 words.

— KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE — Police in Kansas City say a 23-year-old man has been shot to death near the city’s downtown area.

— MISSOURI FLOODING-DEPUTY KILLED — Authorities say a Missouri sheriff’s deputy has died after his patrol car was swept away by floodwaters.

— DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT-AWARD — A St. Joseph woman has been awarded $8.5 million in a racial discrimination lawsuit she brought against Missouri gas utility Spire.

— DOUBLE HOMICIDE-SENTENCE — An Arkansas man who was convicted of killing his estranged girlfriend and her grandfather has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms.
