BOSTON (AP) _ Jozef Stumpel scored one goal and assisted on two others to run his point-scoring streak to eight games as the Boston Bruins defeated the Buffalo Sabres 6-4 Saturday night.

Goaltender Scott Bailey, who gave up five goals in less than a period and a half to Pittsburgh on Thursday, returned to the Boston net and stopped 21 shots.

After a scoreless first period, Stumpel got the first Boston goal on a power play at 1:56 of the second, netting a rebound of a shot by Jon Rohloff.

Randy Burridge tied it at 4:13, sweeping the puck between Bailey’s legs while he was falling to the ice.

Then the goals came quickly as Shawn McEachern found the net at 6:49, Ted Donato at 8:09 and Derek Plante for Buffalo at 9:02.

Dave Reid rounded out the second-period scoring with a goal at 14:57, assisted by rookie Clayton Beddoes in his first NHL game, making it 4-2 at the end of two.

Rob Conn scored for the Sabres at 10:45 of the third period, but Cam Neely put in a rebound for his 13th goal of the season at 13:40.

Pat LaFontaine brought the Sabres within one at 15:59, but Beddoes’ first NHL goal at 18:50 clinched the decision for Boston.

Dominik Hasek faced 32 shots in the Buffalo net.

Boston’s Ray Bourque got into a rare altercation in the second period when the Sabres’ Matthew Barnaby pushed him over Bailey. He got up and knocked Barnaby down. Both went out for roughing.
