PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia police say a 31-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his car and crashed into a wooded area.

WPVI-TV reports Edwin Rodriguez died Tuesday. Police say the crash happened in northeast Philadelphia on the Roosevelt Boulevard. Police say witnesses saw the Rodriguez travelling southbound at a high rate of speed before the crash.

Authorities say the Rodriguez tried to crossover to the outer lanes before he lost control of the vehicle, went airborne and slammed into the woods.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
