Suspect in custody after fatal shooting at Canton gas station

CANTON, Ohio -- A man died Saturday after being shot at a Canton gas station, according to Canton police. 

A police officer was on patrol driving on the 2200 block of West Tuscarawas Street around 3:35 p.m. when he saw an altercation in the parking lot of a BP gas station, a spokesman for Canton police said. 

The officer pulled in to investigate, heard gunshots and then saw a man run from the scene and collapse, police said.

The victim was brought to Aultman Hospital where he died, police said. 

The suspected shooter is in police custody. Police have not identified the shooter or the victim.

The shooting remains under investigation, police say.
