Jan. trial date set in shooting death of North Side assistant football coach
An Allen County judge set a January trial date for a man charged in the shooting death of a Fort Wayne football coach last year.
Henry E. Underwood, 24, is charged with murder, felony murder and attempted robbery. He allegedly shot to death Terrance Miles, 26, outside an apartment complex east of downtown May 19, 2017.
Miles was an assistant football coach at North Side High School.
A four-day trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 8 in Allen Superior Court. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Nov. 27.
Court documents say Underwood and another man were rooting around inside cars at the East Central Towers complex, looking for items to steal, when he walked up to Miles and shot him.
Jaevin Bowie, 22, pleaded guilty in July to felony counts of assisting a criminal and attempted theft. He had been charged with murder, but that charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement.
