Police roundup: Men arrested in connection with Huntington robbery

HUNTINGTON - The following information was provided by criminal complaints filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court:

ROBBERY: Two men were arrested in connection with an alleged robbery that took place around 11 a.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Madison Avenue in Huntington.

Justin Dan Wiley, 28, and Anthony Carmack, 34, were jailed at 1:15 p.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County charged both men with robbery. Bond was set at $50,000 for each man.

According to the criminal complaint, the female victim was walking with the two men along the 1500 block of Madison Avenue when the suspects pushed her down and began to strike her in the head several times with their fists. The victim told police the men began going through her pockets and took $10 and a pack of cigarettes.

The report states both males were located in the area with the items on their person.

A witness who stopped to help the victim saw the incident occur and verified the victim’s statement, the report states.

WANTON ENDANGERMENT: One man was arrested for allegedly firing a shot at two individuals around 3:15 a.m. Friday at a residence in the 800 block of 19th Street in Huntington.

Kevin Matthew Mann, 34, was jailed at 6:20 a.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with wanton endangerment involving a firearm. Bond was not set.

According to the criminal complaint, the suspect fired one round from a 9 mm handgun down a flight of stairs toward the two individuals as they fled the residence.

The involved firearm was reported stolen from the Barboursville area Dec. 29, 2014.

The Huntington Police Department listed 19 new incident reports in the 24-hour period ending at 3 p.m. Friday, according to the printout released by the department. However, the individual police reports were not made available, so these are the only known details:

Receiving or transferring stolen goods - misdemeanor, petit larceny, wanton endangerment involving a firearm, 3:17 a.m. Friday, 800 block of 19th Street.

Open door, 2:02 a.m. Friday, 600 block of West 19th Street.

False pretenses with the value of less than $1,000, 6 p.m. Jan. 18, 100 block of Fairfax Drive.

Runaway juvenile, 2:50 p.m. Thursday, 100 block of Edison Drive.

Destruction of property - misdemeanor, midnight Jan. 1, 1800 block of 11th Avenue.

Fraud and related activity in connection with access devices, false pretenses with value of less than $1,000, petit larceny, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, 100 block of 8th Avenue.

Information report, midnight Nov. 29, 2500 block of 1st Avenue.

Possession of a controlled substance, 12:06 p.m. Thursday, 16th Street Road and Highlander Way.

Burglary, entry of dwelling or outhouse, 9 a.m. Tuesday, 200 block of West 8th Avenue.

Embezzlement - $1,000 or more, 9 a.m. Dec. 20, 1400 block of Norway Avenue.

Warrant service/execution, 10:28 a.m. Thursday, 500 block of Kinetic Park Drive.

Petit larceny, 9:33 p.m. Jan. 17, 500 block of 20th Street.

Petit larceny, 10:45 a.m. Thursday, unit block of West 7th Avenue.

Identity theft, midnight Nov. 27, 800 block of West 28th Street.

Theft of utilities, midnight Oct. 1, 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue.

Fraudulent schemes, midnight Jan. 18, Huntington post office box.

Deceased person, 6:07 a.m. Thursday, unit block of Bradley Foster Drive.

Petit larceny, 3:52 a.m. Thursday, 6900 block of Hagan Street, Guyandotte.

Robbery - first degree, 2:30 a.m. Thursday, 3000 block of Chase Street.

The following information was provided by booking records kept at Western Regional Jail:

Sarah Joy Raper, 35, was jailed at 11:45 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy. Bond was not set.

Joshua Anthony Gibbs, 21, was jailed at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Authorities in Cabell County jailed him on an active warrant. Bond was not set.
