Police: Driver accidentally ran over woman at polling place
WINDHAM, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire police say a woman was seriously injured at a polling location when a car backed over her.
Witnesses told police that a couple who had just voted at Windham High School had gotten in their car to leave. WMUR-TV reports the driver mistakenly put the car in reverse instead of in drive, and backed over the woman.
Police officers working at the polling site say the woman was conscious, but firefighters brought in a hydraulic lift to lift the vehicle off the woman. She was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
