Havasu swim team opens season with a pair of wins in Yuma

August 31, 2018

YUMA — The Lake Havasu swim teams touched in with a victory in the season’s opening meet on Thursday at the Valley Aquatic Center.

The Knights girls swept a pair of duals with 6A Yuma Cibola and San Luis. The boys beat San Luis and were projected to fall to Cibola at deadline.

“It was a good first outing and it’s a good starting point for the rest of our season,” said Havasu swim coach Giulia Dickinson. “It was a good meet to start with.”

Dickinson listed Kelsee Sneed and Irene Little as some of the top performers for the girls and AJ Alexander, Nicholas Rizzo and Michael Johnsen as a few of the top boys.

“The relays on both sides were good races against Cibola, both for the A and B relays.”

The Knights get to compete in their home pool for the next meet, hosting Kingman on Thursday at the Havasu Aquatic Center in the annual Golden Anchor meet.
