Beaver Dam Police Beat: August 16, 2018

Accident — Police responded to an accident between a vehicle and a parked car in the 200 block of South Vita Avenue at 2:10 p.m. on Thursday.

Suspicious behavior — A woman reported that her daughter heard a loud knock on the door and a green vehicle drove past twice while she was home alone in the 1000 block of Homestead Street at 3:41 p.m. Thursday.

Fraud — A woman reported receiving a fraudulent phone call about Medicare cards in the 200 block of Cherokee Road at 3:53 p.m. Thursday. An officer advised her about the scam and to monitor her information closely.

Hit-and-run — A man reported his vehicle was struck by a gray Dodge pickup truck in the intersection of North Spring Street and Industrial Drive at 4:16 p.m. Thursday. He did not have a plate number for the truck.

Lockout — Police responded to a report of a small child locked inside a vehicle in the 700 block of South University Avenue at 4:18 p.m. Thursday. The child made it out safely.

Domestic problem — Police responded to a report of a man hitting a woman outside a residence in the 200 block of Wayland Street before taking off in a black sedan at 4:58 p.m. Thursday. Police counseled the man and woman and determined no domestic incident took place. There was no report filed.

Domestic problem — Police responded to a verbal incident between a woman and a man in the 200 block of Wayland Street at 5:11 p.m. Thursday. Officers responded and counseled both parties. A report was filed.

Power issue — An officer and Alliant Energy responded to a possible blown-out transformer in the 200 block of Madison Street at 6:36 p.m. Thursday.

Tree issue — A man reported a large tree branch obstructing the roadway in the 200 block of West Maple Avenue at 8:08 p.m. Thursday. The public works department was notified.

Unwanted person — A woman reported an intoxicated man in a parking lot in the 700 block of Park Avenue who was kicking a vehicle at 10:24 p.m. Thursday. Officers made contact with the man, who was transported to jail on a probation hold and charged with disorderly conduct.

Civil issue — Staff at a hotel in the 700 block of Park Avenue reported two men took another guest’s laundry and were abusive to employees at 11:18 p.m. Thursday. They were evicted and left without incident.

Fight — Beaver Dam officers assisted Dodge County deputies with a report of a fight on North Crystal Lake Road at 11:54 p.m. on Thursday.

911 hangup — There was a 911 hangup from the 500 block of Grove Street at 12:50 a.m. Friday. An officer responded and made contact with a woman who was intoxicated at home with two children. The officer made contact with a relative who came to stay for the rest of the night.

Domestic problem — Beaver Dam officers responded to a domestic incident at the Majestic Hills mobile home park at 1:03 a.m. on Friday and stood by until Dodge County deputies arrived.

Tree issue — A man reported a tree was down in the 500 block of Wayland Street at 2:17 a.m. Friday. The public works department responded.

Suspicious behavior — An officer found an unoccupied vehicle in Edgewater Park at 2:50 a.m. Friday and located three men who were on foot. One man was cited for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A second man was cited for obstruction. A third man was cited for obstruction and possessing drug paraphernalia.
