Man repeatedly pistol-whipped, robbed of $7 in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio — An armed robber repeatedly pistol-whipped a 29-year-old man and robbed him of $7, police reports say.

The attack happened about 4 a.m. Sunday on West 100th Street and Almira Avenue in the city’s West Boulevard neighborhood.

The man told police taht he was walking from his friend’s house to his home nearby when a robber walked up from behind him and demanded his cellphone, police reports say.

The man refused and the robber repeatedly pistol-whipped him in the face and head, hitting him with a handgun about 10 times, according to police reports.

The man fell to the ground and the robber rummaged through his pockets, taking $7, police reports say.

The robber ran away and the man walked home. His parents drove him to MetroHealth, where he was treated for a broken jaw. He got several stitches to repair large gashes under his left eye, the left side of his chin and behind his left ear, police reports say.

He also suffered a black eye, swelling and minor cuts to his head that did not require stitches, according to police.
