Scranton Police Investigating Shooting In East Mountain Neighborhood
SCRANTON — City police are investigating after a 17-year-old boy checked himself into a hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm Friday evening.
Investigators are working to determine how and where the teen suffered the injury but believe the wound is related to an incident at Summit by the Lake Apartments on Friday night, city Police Chief Carl Graziano said.
Police responded there about 8:45 p.m. and cordoned off a portion of a road that runs between Knox Road and Donny Drive. Officers worked their way through a nearby copse of trees with flashlights about 9:20 p.m. Police on scene would only say the presence was part of an active investigation. Further details about what happened there were unavailable late Friday night.
Around 9:30 p.m., officials issued a “be on the lookout” announcement for a silver Toyota sedan that had been involved in a shooting. The car was missing a window. Police were warned to be careful if they spotted the car because the occupants might be armed.
