Police: Man shot by wife in dispute over breakfast oats dies
NORMALVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man who police say was shot in the head by his wife during a dispute over breakfast oats earlier this year has died.
KDKA-TV reports 29-year-old John Maki succumbed to injuries he sustained in the April 5 shooting. Maki’s wife, Rachel Eutsey, is currently charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and child endangerment.
Police say the Normalville woman told investigators the couple had smoked crack cocaine hours before Maki complained that Eutsey had bought traditional oats instead of instant oats. Authorities say Eutsey said she fired at Maki after he choked her in an attempt to scare him but struck the victim in the head.
A message seeking comment from a lawyer for Eutsey wasn’t immediately returned on Thursday.
