Tough Break: Homes Left Without Water
LEOMINSTER -- Thirty homes were without water after a water main at the corner of Jytek Road and Bainbridge Street broke Wednesday afternoon.
The Department of Public Works was called to the break at about 12:15 p.m., said General Foreman Rick Cormier.
Workers had the water main shut off by 1:10 p.m. The break caused Jytek Business Park to briefly lose water, and knocked out service to about 80 nearby homes. Sediment blanketed the end of Bainbridge Street, but no flooding was observed just after 1 p.m.
Cormier said water service should be completely restored by 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Cormier said the cause of the water main break was unknown at the time. It comes on the heals of a massive water main break in Worcester on Tuesday that led to severe flooding in the Greendale neighborhood.
“This is our own little Worcester, let’s call it that,” Cormier joked.
