Roads updates, closures and openings for Friday
As the area recovers from a late winter storm, business as usual has been interrupted.
Also, the Nebraska Department of Transportation has provided the following updates on road openings and closures:
— I-80 Eastbound from the Wyoming line to the Iowa border opened at 6 p.m. Thursday.
— I-80 Westbound from Grand Island to the Wyoming line opened at 7 p.m. Thursday.
On Friday morning, NDOT advised that all other highways in the Panhandle were open except: All of Hwy 19; All of Hwy 71; All of Hwy 88; All of Hwy 29; All of Hwy 250 and Hwy 2 from Hemingford to Hwy 71 Junction. Crews are working hard to open all the remaining roads. We will keep you updated as roads open.
A summary of business notifications are:
— The City of Scottsbluff will open its offices.
— The Gering City Offices and Gering Public Library will be open for normal business hours on Friday. However, the city advised that parks and pathways will remain closed until further notice, except for the sledding hill and west of the Northfield Park bridge. Also, the Sanitation Department informed customers that the cart route will not be picked up until Monday, March 18.
— The Scotts Bluff County offices will open at normal times on Friday.
— The Banner County Courthouse will remain closed.
— There will be no school at all Scottsbluff, Sidney and Alliance schools Friday. Sidney Middle School Quiz Bowl cancelled for tomorrow.
— Gering Public Schools will have no school; the day off had already been scheduled.
— Regional West Medical Center advised that it is open and operational. The Emergency Department is open for those experiencing emergent health concerns.
On Friday: Regional West Urgent Care will be opening at 10 a.m. All Regional West Physicians Clinic clinics in Scottsbluff will be opening at 10 a.m. Community Pharmacy will be opening at 10 a.m. Regional West Community Health will be opening at 10 a.m.Regional West Physicians Clinic-Family Medicine, Sidney will open at 10 a.m. The valet service will be assisting patients at the main hospital entrance as well as Medical Plaza North and Medical Plaza South.
However, Regional West Physicians Clinic-Family Medicine, Morrill and Regional West Physicians Clinic-Family Medicine, Chappell will not be open.
— Chadron State College will remain closed. The CSC Dining Hall will be open Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m, and will remain open until 6 p.m. Thursday. The C-Store in High Rise will be open 8 p.m. to midnight both Thursday and Friday.
— The City of Alliance advised the following facilities would remain closed Friday: Alliance Public Library, Knight Museum & Sandhills Center, Alliance Senior Center, SkyView Golf Course and the Alliance Landfill.
— The Chadron Aquatic Center will be closed.
— All essential services at Box Butte General Hospital will continue to remain open.
The GNMSS clinic in Alliance will resume normal business hours on Friday. Both satellite clinics in Hemingford and Hyannis, Wound Care, The Gift Box, The Michael F. Essay, Sr. Specialty Clinic will be closed. Wellness Center fitness classes has also been cancelled.
The Rehab and Wellness Center will open at 8 a.m. If a medical emergency occurs, the hospital encourages residents to call 911 and wait for Emergency Services for transport.
This may not be comprehensive list of all closures in the area. The Star-Herald will update this list as announcements regarding closures or openings are provided.
