Burglars lug off ATM containing $2,800

January 18, 2019

Pearland police say thieves broke into Oiler Stop service station, 4453 Main St., early Jan. 12, pried loose an ATM and drove off with it and the some $2,800 in cash that it contained.

At about 4 a.m. that day, officers responding to an alarm at the station arrived to find the front door shattered, Pearland Police Department spokesman James Wells said.

Surveillance video showed two suspects, possibly men, who approached the station in a U-Haul van with an unknown license plate, Wells said. Police believe they smashed the front door, walked in and used a crowbar to pry the machine from the floor.

They then “shoved it in the back of the U-Haul and took off,” heading north on Main Street, Wells said.

The machine is valued at $2,500, according to the report.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the department, 281-997-4100, and ask for officer Robin Milner.
