Duke 78, Wake Forest 64
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) _ Tyish Hall had 20 points and 12 rebounds Thursday night to lead No. 22 Duke to a 78-66 victory over Wake Forest in an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s game.
Hall, who averages 8.1 points per game, scored 18 of her points in the second half to help the Blue Devils (18-5, 8-4) pull away from the Demon Deacons, who led at halftime.
Six of Hall’s points came during a key stretch early in the half as Duke went on a 22-8 run and took command of the game. Hall’s 12 rebounds were a career high.
The Blue Devils also got 15 points from Kira Orr, 13 from Jennifer Scanlon and 11 from Carey Kauffman. The victory tied a school record for ACC wins in a season.
Wake Forest (10-13, 3-10) got 18 points and 8 rebounds from Tracy Connor and 17 points from Gretchen Hollifield. RaeAnna Mulholland had 15 points and Val Hodge 10.
Wake Forest led 34-33 at halftime. The Demon Deacons fell behind early but took the lead 15-13 when Mulholland hit a 3-point field goal with 10 minutes gone in the half. The teams traded the lead for the rest of the half.
Duke had lost three of its last five.
