Minister, Woman Accused of Murder
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) _ A minister who performed a couple’s marriage in 1987 was charged along with the now-divorced woman with murder in the shotgun slaying of her ex-husband.
Floyd Dierking, 59, and Jane Lemoine, 39, were arrested Thursday and ordered held without bond in the death of Michael Lemoine, who was found shot in the back of the head at his home in March.
Dierking, a former minister of Covenant Church, officiated the couple’s wedding and counseled them when problems arose, senior pastor Charles Simpson said.
Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson Jr. said that prior to the shooting Mrs. Lemoine had lost a temporary custody battle for her daughter and was romantically involved with Dierking, who had left the church and divorced his wife.
Both could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
