CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Strong storms bringing high winds and heavy rain are sweeping parts of southern, central and eastern Iowa.

Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports that a couple of tornadoes touched down Tuesday afternoon in eastern Iowa’s Benton County. The station says one was spotted on the ground near Blairstown and another near Chelsea.

Benton County Emergency Management officials say there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The National Weather Service also confirmed tornado on the ground just after 6 p.m. just northeast of Greenfield, in rural southwestern Iowa, as tornado watches continued across the state until later Tuesday night.

While officials were on the lookout for severe weather, they’re also concerned about heavy rain that could lead to flooding in areas already waterlogged from rain over recent weeks.
