Support For Mayoral Candidate Cost Wyoming Realtor, Suit Says

March 7, 2019

WYOMING — A Wyoming Borough realtor says his politics caused borough officials to retaliate against him and cost him compensation for his property.

In a complaint filed Monday in federal court, Patrick Kane alleges the borough seized property owned by his company, Susquehanna Realty Group, LLC, and refused to compensate him because he supported Joseph Dominick’s campaign for mayor.

Kane named the borough and council members Stephen Nalewajko and Frank Yurek as defendants in the lawsuit. Nalewajko and Yurek declined to comment.

The filing alleges the borough took property on Shulde Lane to build a pump station without permission and without following eminent domain procedures, and the town never compensated him.

In 2017, Kane supported Dominick in his campaign to unseat former mayor Bob Boyer.

The defendants are political allies of Boyer, and Kane’s support of his opponent caused them to refuse to pay fair compensation, the suit said.

The lawsuit seeks compensation for the alleged violations and for costs Kane incurred because of the seizure.

Borough solicitor Lars Anderson declined to comment on the lawsuit.
