FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ Jim Lopusznick tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Joe Milligan with 5:35 remaining in the game, lifting Fairfield to a 17-10 victory over Central Connecticut on Saturday.

Central Connecticut (2-3) opened the scoring with a 26-yard field goal from Adam Wilkinson with 7:25 left in the first quarter.

Fairfield (3-1) tied the score in the third quarter when Jason Butsch kicked a 35-yard field goal with 12:30 remaining. The Blue Devils regained the lead with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Keith Toolan to Stan House, giving Central Connecticut a 10-3 lead.

Steven Hadley took the ensuing kickoff and returned it 64 yards to the Central Connecticut 36-yard line, giving Fairfield its best opening field position to that point.

On the first play of the drive, Lopusznick scrambled for 20 yards before Central Connecticut was called for a facemask penalty, giving the Stags first and goal at the 9-yard line. Lopusznick followed with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Wise, tying the score 10-10.

The Blue Devils drove down field following the touchdown and reached inside the Fairfield 10-yard line, courtesy of 45 rushing yards by Stan House on four carries.

Quarterback Darryl Taylor missed receiver Mark Strasser in the end zone, turning the ball over to Fairfield. The Stags ran out the final two minutes to secure the win.

Lopusznick finished with 14 completion in 23 attempts for 170 yards and two touchdowns. House passed Central Connecticut offense with 212 yards on 35 carries and caught three passes for 15 yards and a touchdown.
