Advanced Control Tower Capabilities Begin to Outpace Supply Chain Readiness, Nucleus Research Value Matrix Finds
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 27, 2018--Leading control tower vendors are moving customers beyond the day-to-day visibility they demand to deliver automated capabilities that drive new efficiencies. This level of automation provides greater benefits by freeing up more time for customers to analyze data and make strategic decisions.
Control Tower Technology Value Matrix Leaders include E2open, Kinaxis, JDA Software, One Network and SAP.
“Leading control tower vendors are a step ahead, delivering automation while their customers are still focused mostly on visibility. Vendors that anticipate upcoming needs develop strong advantages. Based on these insights, I’m bullish on control tower tech for 2019,” said Ian Campbell, CEO at Nucleus Research.
In addition to automation, Nucleus has found that some vendors are further ahead in promoting advanced features, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Also, integration trends continue across enterprise application areas, with control towers relying on real-time data and allowing businesses to move away from antiquated spreadsheet planning and disparate, siloed systems. This speaks to the value of supply chain control towers continuing on as a vital tool for enterprises to gain and increase visibility over their extended value chains.
“This year, several supply chain control tower vendors released tools that surpassed the ability of customers to fully use the technology. Vendors recognize that their customers are amidst the ‘crawl, walk, run’ continuum and, as a result, are building tools that reduce the barriers to acceptance and address the low-hanging fruit for customer adoption first and foremost,” said Seth Lippincott, principal analyst at Nucleus Research.
Looking ahead, vendors are continuing to invest in technologies that will decrease the amount of mundane, day-to-day management of supply chain errors, with the goal of providing capabilities that allow the system to handle rectifying issues. These tools that help to increase adoption rates and ease change management for users will continue as drivers of significant value.
Vendors are evaluated within the Value Matrix on both usability and functionality – key drivers of value – and placed into four categories: Leaders, Experts, Facilitators, and Core Providers.
