A 47-year-old Fort Wayne woman has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed in a crash in the 7700 block of Lafayette Street on Wednesday evening, the Allen County coroner’s office said today.

Kimberly K. McCagg died accidentally from blunt force trauma because of a motor vehicle pedestrian crash, the coroner’s office said in a statement.

Fort Wayne police have said a woman running across four lanes of traffic on Lafayette Street was struck by a northbound vehicle and killed about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

She was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead on arrival, police have said.

The incident remains under investigation by city police and the coroner’s office.
