Pit Bull Attacks Chihuahua Inside Lowell Home
LOWELL -- A Centralville resident requested Animal Control take her pregnant pit bull away after the dog mauled and nearly killed another dog inside the home Sunday night.
Lowell police Capt. Paul Laferriere said shortly after the incident was reported at 9 p.m., the Chihuahua attacked by the pit bull was alive, “for now.”
The pit bull’s owner was also bitten before she caged the animal inside the Bridge Street home, according to the emergency radio broadcast. The owner’s injuries were not immediately available.
A young child was inside the residence at the time of the attack, according to the broadcast. There were no initial reports the youth was injured.
This was the second call to police involving a pit bull attack this weekend.
A woman was bitten on the finger by a pit bull on Wilder Street on Saturday night, according to Laferriere.
The woman suffered minor injuries and no arrests were made.
The pit bull was up to date on its shots, Laferriere said.
