Play suspended at Connecticut Open due to rain

NEW HAVEN — Mother Nature is making her mark on the Connecticut Open.

Light rain has led to the suspension of Wednesday afternoon’s matches in the Elm City.

Play was halted around 1:25 p.m. on the Stadium Court, with Ekaterina Makarova holding a 3-1 advantage in the second set over Magadalena Rybarikova. Makarova dropped the first set, 6-2.

The day’s first doubles match featuring Kiki Bertens/Johanna Larsson and Monique Adamczak/Oksana Kalashnikova on Sportmaster Grandstand Court was stopped early in the first set.

No announcement has been made as to when both matches will resume.

UPDATE (2:07 p.m.): Play on Stadium Court has resumed following an approximately 42-minute delay.
