Police: Woman arrested for DUI with a child in the car
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island State Police say a woman arrested for allegedly driving drunk with a child in her car had a blood-alcohol content four times the legal limit to drive.
Police said Friday that 52-year-old Michelle Powers, of West Greenwich, was stopped on Route 102 in town at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday for driving erratically.
They say a 12-year-old girl was in the car.
Police say Powers was subsequently arrested for drunken driving, with a blood-alcohol content measuring .32 at the time of her arrest, which is four times the legal limit to drive.
Online court records don’t list an attorney for Powers, who could comment on her behalf.
Powers was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. The girl was released into the custody of relatives.
