Police say man had 2 handguns at Blackhawks parade
CHICAGO (AP) — Police say a suburban Chicago man found with two loaded handguns along the route of the Blackhawks victory parade told officers he had the weapons because he’d been robbed in the past.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1cAjb79 ) that Roger Harrison of Matteson was ordered held in lieu of $75,000 bail Saturday. He is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and cannabis possession.
Police say there is no indication the 37-year-old was planning a crime at Friday’s celebration.
Prosecutors say officers asked to search his backpack and Harrison responded that he would just walk the other way. They say he eventually told officers he “might have a handgun” on him.
Authorities say he had a stolen revolver in his pocket and an unregistered 9 mm pistol in his bag.
