REALTOR OF THE WEEK Joel Bickley has developed top customer service, marketing skills

August 19, 2018

Joel Bickley, a Realtor with Sudhoff Companies, spent over a decade honing his customer service and marketing skills in the financial industry and in the private-club industry in member relations.

These skills transferred easily into his real estate career and assisted in his becoming an award-winning Realtor.

“I came to Houston from South Carolina 23 years ago for a temporary job opportunity. I fell in love with the city and stayed. I then bought my first home and enjoyed the process. I realized that I wanted to help others through the experience, so I obtained my license in 2002,” Bickley said.

Owning his own home was important to him.

“Buying a home was the best thing I could have done and I think it is for anyone. It is a place of security, a place to call mine, a place to call home, a place to belong to the community, and is one of the best investments anyone can make. It is now an honor to help others in their real estate goals,” Bickley said.

After Bickley obtained his license, he worked for a local boutique real estate firm, specializing in new construction in the Inner Loop and then Sudhoff’s team of developer consultants. He worked closely with developers to assist them in land acquisitions, design and finish-out of future developments.

“When I was working in finance, I worked with 12 wonderful people, but I only saw them. I missed working with a diverse group of people, seeing and meeting new people every day, which is one reason I really enjoy real estate. Now, every day I enjoy meeting new people, and new clients,” Bickley said.

His focus area includes from Tanglewood to downtown, with Montrose being his main area. Presently, buyers have a number of choices in resale homes, and there is a lot of new construction in the area, including residential and townhomes.

Bickley is known for being personable, friendly, outgoing, with extensive market knowledge. He also works with all clients, from first-time home buyers to luxury-home buyers, and in all price points. His clients become his friends throughout the transaction and beyond closing. He is more than a Realtor, helping his clients in many ways and walking with them throughout the process.

He is also available to his clients, and his phone stays on almost 24/7.
