Piers Morgan to Donald Trump: ‘I’d literally pay to work for you’

December 11, 2018

Piers Morgan pitched himself as President Trump’s next chief of staff in a cheeky op-ed in the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

“You need someone whose reputation won’t be remotely tarnished by working with you and who won’t mind in the slightest if you suddenly fire him,” the British talk show host wrote. “I’ve been fired from big jobs before and always found it both character-building and financially lucrative.”

Mr. Morgan highlighted his 2008 victory of Mr. Trump’s TV show “The Celebrity Apprentice” as one of the best examples of what makes him a great candidate.

He then listed 10 reasons why he is the best fit to be Mr. Trump’s right-hand man, a list that included several tongue-in-cheek insults to the president.

Mr. Morgan included several pieces of advice for the president including to stay off Twitter until the chief of staff gives it a green light.

Taking a swing at his former foes, Mr. Morgan said that the president needs a better filter for allowing people into the administration to avoid “the type of ghastly, untrustworthy reptiles like Omarosa Manigault Newman.”

Mr. Morgan took several jabs at the president throughout his piece, highlighting the impending Russia probe report and “the awful lurid scandals and gossip” first lady Melania Trump endured.

“I don’t need the salary and in fact, I’d literally pay to work for you,” he said. “What could be a better ride than being CoS at this perilous stage of the Trump presidency?”
