Santa Fe man accused of aggravated DWI
A Santa Fe man is accused of aggravated DWI, according to a criminal complaint filed in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court.
Mathew Ortega, 40, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drunken driving, according to the complaint.
When police were notified a blue vehicle was driving along Rufina Street and Joshua Lane without a tire, one officer followed a deep groove in the ground from Camino Vista Aurora to Sierra Vista mobile home park, where he found Ortega, according to the complaint.
Ortega said he had gone to Allsup’s to buy cigarettes and beer and ended up in a fistfight with two males in the parking lot, police reports said.
Ortega said he was “kind of buzzed” and had drank two beers and two shots about an hour before he operated his vehicle, the complaint stated.
Ortega was arrested Saturday afternoon and booked at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center, where he was being held Monday with a $2,500 unsecured bond.
