CRANS-SUR-SIERRE, Switzerland (AP) _ Ove Sellberg of Sweden birdied three of the last four holes Saturday for a 5-under-par 67 and a one-stroke lead in the European Masters golf tournament.
Sellberg has a 54-hole total of 200.
Tied for second were Jose Maria Canizares of Spain, James Spence of England and Ronan Rafferty of Northern Ireland.
''The course is forgiving and I got some good breaks today,'' Sellberg said.
His 200-yard approach shot to the third hole bounded off the green but fell into spectator's pocket. He holed a bunker shot for an eagle on the seventh hole.
Americans Peter Teravainen and Rick Hartman were five strokes off the pace. Terravainen had a 66 Saturday, while Hartman had a 68.
TOKYO (AP) - Former major leaguer Orestes Destrade hit his 31st homer of the season in a losing cause Saturday as his Seibu Lions were beaten by the Kintetsu Buffaloes 8-5 in Japan's Pacific League.
SUSONO, Japan (AP) - Mayumi Hirase shot a 1-under-par 72 to take a three- stroke lead after the second round of the Fuji Sankei Women's Classic golf tournament Saturday.
Hirase has a 141 total on hilly 6,480-yard, par-73 Five Hundred Club course. Cindy Figg-Currier of Austin, Texas, is tied for second with three Japanese players at 144 after rounds of 72.
MOTEGIMACHI, Japan (AP) - Ryoken Kawagishi, who had a six-stroke lead after two rounds, shot a 3-over-par 73 Saturday and saw his lead cut to two strokes over Isao Aoki in the Kanto Open.
Kawagishi has a 7-under-par 203 for the 54 holes on the 6,789-yard Higashinomiya Country Club course.
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - China's Gao Shi Jun and Yan Yu Lang raced to victories in the 13.1-mile Sultan Mahmud Bridge-MAS Run in Kuala Trengganu on Saturday.
Gao finished in 1 hour, 8 minutes, 43 seconds in the men's race and Yan took the women's competition in 1:18:10.
Over 3,000 runners competed in the run which started in front of the Government House and ended at Batu Buruk beach resort.
NEW YORK (AP) - Two-time world indoor 1,500-meter champion Marcus O'Sullivan of Ireland has entered the Mercedes Mile on Fifth Avenue Sept. 22.
O'Sullivan, a two-time Olympian, has been among the race's top finishers each of the past three years, but still is seeking his first victory. He was second in 1987, third in 1988 and fourth last year.
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Third seeded Rodney Martin of Australia upset top seed Chris Robertson also of Australia 15-11, 15-14, 15-7 and advanced to the final of Malaysian Open Squash Championship.
Martin will play Chris Dittmar, who defeated Martin's brother, Bret 15-5, 15-11 and 15-9 in the other all-Australian semifinal Saturday.
Dittmar has yet to win a major title this year.
