Man pleads not guilty in deadly stabbing at Seattle Center
SEATTLE (AP) — Bail has been denied for the man accused of stabbing to death a woman in front of their son at Seattle Center.
KCPQ-TV reports David Lee Morris pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a first-degree murder charge in the death of Gabriella Garcia earlier this month.
Authorities say in court documents that Morris believed he would never get custody of their 5-year-old son, so killing Garcia would mean her brother would have custody.
Garcia had an active protection order against Morris.
Prosecutors requested for Morris to be held without bail, saying investigators believe there are “extreme concerns for the safety of the community” if he was released.
It’s not clear if Morris has an attorney.
Seattle Center is home to the Space Needle, museums, shops and restaurants.
