FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) _ The Boston Red Sox haven’t called Minnesota general manager Terry Ryan seeking permission to talk to former Twins manager Tom Kelly.

``I can tell you if I do hear from the Red Sox, I’ll announce it,″ Ryan said Sunday.

Kelly, who has been working with some of the younger Twins players at the team’s minor league complex, has said he would be willing to listen if the Red Sox wanted to contact him about their managerial opening.

Red Sox interim GM Mike Port said Saturday it was possible the team would ask for permission to talk to Kelly.

Kelly retired last fall after 15 full seasons with the Twins that included World Series championships in 1987 and 1991. He agreed to stay with the organization’s front office.

Ron Gardenhire replaced Kelly on Jan. 4.
