IMMIGRATION-DEBATING DETENTION

IN BRIEF:

— MICHIGAN SENATE: Republican John James is highlighting his endorsement from President Donald Trump in a new TV ad in Michigan’s race for U.S. Senate. James released the 30-second ad on Monday, three days after Trump endorsed him in the GOP primary over businessman Sandy Pensler.

— SMALL PLANES COLLIDE: Authorities say three people had minor injuries after a small plane landing on North Fox Island off of Michigan’s northwestern Lower Peninsula collided with another small plane already on the ground.

— GAS PRICES-MICHIGAN: AAA Michigan says average gas prices statewide have risen about 11 cents in the past week to about $3 per gallon. The Dearborn-based auto club says the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is about 52 cents more than at the same point last year.

— DETROIT SPORTS VENUES-SENSORY INCLUSIVENESS: Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena in Detroit are partnering with a nonprofit to provide assistance for fans with sensory issues.

— CALVES KILLED-FIRE: Authorities say four calves have died after fireworks shot from a moving vehicle sparked a grass fire along a road in rural Michigan.
