Police: Sex offender arrested for failing to register
A Lake Havasu City sex offender was recently arrested after police said he failed to register with authorities.
According to City Police, Jarred Michael Wayne Brown, 24, was arrested at about 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, on Sahara Drive. He also had two outstanding warrants for disorderly conduct and fraud.
Brown was arrested when an officer, who recognized him from mugshot photos and knew he had three warrants for his arrest.
When Brown spoke with officers he told them he had been living on the street since February 2019. But, for the last week, he had been living with his girlfriend. He said the last time he registered as a sex offender was in October 2017 when he was released from prison.
Brown was arrested April 14, 2016, for three counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
Police investigators said Brown had sex with a 15-year-old girl after meeting her on Facebook earlier this year. He allegedly knew the girl was underage, but did not know she was sneaking out of her house to be with him.
He reportedly told police he knew having sex with the underage girl was wrong, and when he told her they should stop she “didn’t take it very well.” When the girl’s mom told Brown to stop contacting her daughter, police say he respected her request.
