WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police are looking for a 16-year-old girl who remains on the loose after she and a 15-year-old female escaped from a juvenile detention facility.

Workers at the Grace Cottage detention facility on Faulkland Road in Wilmington called police shortly after 8 p.m. Monday after the two girls ran off during a group transfer from one building to another.

Authorities say the two then stole a state-owned vehicle and fled on Route 141.

Police found the car and the 15-year-old about two hours later in the 2300 block of North Washington Street. She was charged with escape, vehicle theft and conspiracy and was being held at the New Castle County Detention Center on $4,500 secured bail.

Authorities say 16-year-old Alyssa Popo remained at large Tuesday.
