The Original Wellness Rider is Now Available at No Charge

January 30, 2019

DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan 30, 2019--Global Atlantic made it their New Year’s resolution: Wellness for everyone. And while most people’s resolutions fizzle out in a week, this one is here to stay. As of January 1, 2019, Global Atlantic’s Wellness for Life® rider is available at no charge to everyone purchasing a new, eligible policy.

“Our Wellness for Life® was the first rider of its kind,” said Dave Wilken, President, Life, at Global Atlantic. “Wellness for Life was a pioneering innovation, and our decision to eliminate the fees is just another example of our ongoing focus on innovating in favor of the consumer.”

Wellness for Life gives owners of permanent policies discounts on insurance costs if they visit the doctor at least once every other year and manage their weight within a range determined when they buy their policy. Going to the doctor at least once every two years qualifies them for level one Wellness for Life Rewards®. If they also maintain their weight within a range specified at policy issue, they receive more Rewards.

Mr. Wilken added, “We don’t collect, track or store any personal medical information. We simply ask the insured to verify they’ve been to the doctor every two years and have kept their weight within an individualized range if they wish to qualify for more Rewards. Wellness for Life requires no wearables. It’s easy to understand, and participation is simple. Just visit the doctor and send in the form — that’s it. There are no fluctuating premiums, just discounts on the cost of insurance that can add up significantly over time.”

With Wellness for Life, consumers can give their policy values a boost in the same way taking certain actions can boost their health and happiness — and now it costs them nothing.

2018 marked the 10-year anniversary of Wellness for Life and more than 50,000 riders have been issued. The company’s experience indicates that customers that have purchased the rider have better life expectancy.
