Pittsburgh’s eight-game run is its longest since winning eight in a row from March 26-April 7, 2016.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The team with the worst record in the NBA absorbed another blowout loss Friday. Donovan Mitchell scored 18 points and the Utah Jazz dominated the second half, sending the Cleveland Cavaliers to their eighth straight loss with a 117-91 victory. Coach Larry Drew referred to a lengthy postgame meeting with players as “pretty somber.”
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — There was only one game involving a Top 25 men’s college basketball game Friday and 20th-ranked Buffalo began its Mid-America Conference schedule with a 74-58 win over Eastern Michigan. Montell McRae scored a career-high 18 points and Nick Perkins added 15 to help the Bulls improve to 13-1 overall and 1-0 in the MAC.
UNDATED (AP) — LeBron James will miss at least four more games with the Los Angeles Lakers while he recovers from a left groin strain. The Lakers on Friday said James’ injury will be re-evaluated in one week. The four-time NBA MVP already has missed four games after getting hurt during the Lakers’ victory at Golden State on Christmas.

Tulowitzki, a five-time All-Star absent from the major leagues since July 2017, finalized his one-year contract for the major league minimum $555,000 on Friday after passing a physical.
