Washington County pair indicted on drug, gun charges
A Washington County man and woman are accused of selling cocaine and fentanyl, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady in Pittsburgh said Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Vashaun Lasalle Wright, 29, and Alyssa Ashley Adkins, 29, both of Houston, Washington County, also had three pistols and ammunition during the furtherance of drug trafficking even though they have prior convictions that makes it illegal for them to own guns.
The two were indicted by a federal grand jury in March, but the charges weren’t announced until Wednesday.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jerome A. Moschetta and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel Wheeler of the Washington County District Attorney’s Office are prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Washington County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force, Pennsylvania state police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
This case is being prosecuted as part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (S.O.S.). The U.S. Court at Pittsburgh is one of 10 nationwide taking part.
