Austin is Third Priciest City in Texas, According to Survey
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 4, 2018--Austin is the third most expensive destination in Texas based on the cost of its accommodations. That is the determination of a recent survey conducted by CheapHotels.org.
Specifically, the survey established for 30 destinations in the Lone Star State the rate an overnight guest will have to pay to stay in the cheapest available double room. Only centrally located hotels rated at least 3 stars were taken into consideration. The month of April 2018 served as the survey’s comparative basis. It was selected because it just so happens to be the month during which most Texan cities reach their highest average hotel rates.
To stay in the Texan capital this spring, travelers will have to spend an average of $174 per night for the least expensive room. Only two cities are pricier: Odessa in the western part of the state known for its cowboys and oil rigs and Waco in the central heart of Texas.
Dallas ranks fourth most expensive in the state at an average nightly price tag of $158. Proving themselves to be a bit more affordable are Houston and San Antonio. Both rank in the survey’s midfield with average rates of $112 and $107 per night, respectively. Texas’s least expensive city, by a wide margin, is the military boom town of Killeen in the center part of the state. Bargain seekers should be able to find a room there for slightly more than $50 per night.
The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations in Texas based on the average rate for their cheapest available double room during the time period spanning April 1 to April 30, 2018.
