Shirley Bowers, 90, Green Bay
Shirley A. Bowers, 90, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 28, 2018.
She was born June 2, 1928, to Frank and Clara (Huth) Kroening, in Green Bay.
Shirley graduated from Green Bay West High School, class of 1946. After high school she worked for the Green Bay Board of Education, and later worked as a secretary for the Beaumont Elementary School. On Dec. 30, 1950, she married Richard Bowers at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Green Bay. Along with her husband Dick, Shirley owned and operated Southside Radio and TV Service, which she was a bookkeeper. Her faith was of the utmost importance to her. She was a lifelong member at St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of St. Joseph’s Altar Rosary Society. Shirley also enjoyed 11 years of her retirement in Sun City. Shirley enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and schafkopf, traveling, reading, watching the Packers, but most of all spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Terri and Tom Joseph of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Richard Jr. and Mary Bowers of Hobart; Jim and Mary Bowers of Baraboo; Russ and Barb Bowers of Ashwaubenon; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Larscheid and Geraldine Bowers, both of Green Bay; and many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; and a granddaughter, Mary Beth Joseph.
Friends and family gathered from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of Ninth Street and 12th Avenue, Green Bay. The memorial Mass was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Rev. Greg Parent officiating. To send online condolences, visit blaneyfuneralhome.com.
