WASHINGTON (AP) _ An Iraqi rebel coalition that is undergoing an audit by the State Department's inspector general will receive up to $6 million in additional U.S. assistance.

Philip Reeker, a department spokesman, said Thursday that assistance to the Iraqi National Congress was not inconsistent with the audit that was announced on Monday.

The group already has received $4.3 million in a program designed to try to remove President Saddam Hussein from office.
