Police: Phoenix man severely burned feet of 3-year-old boy
PHOENIX (AP) — A Phoenix man was arrested after police say he burned a 3-year-old boy’s feet so severely that they required surgery.
KNXV-TV in Phoenix reports that 24-year-old Dashawn Lewis Johnson was arrested Wednesday in connection with the alleged scalding.
According to police, the victim’s mother took the child to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for pain and blistering on the top of both feet.
Doctors diagnosed the victim with second-degree burns and sent him to the Maricopa County Burn Center where he underwent skin graft surgeries.
Another child told police he listened to the boy being struck with a belt and water coming on.
Johnson reportedly told police that he bathed the boy and the water was hot.
It was not known if Johnson had an attorney.
