North Carolina man charged with raping twin Stratford girls

September 4, 2018

BRIDGEPORT - A North Carolina man was being held in leu of $400,000 bond after police said he raped twin Stratford girls.

Adam Palmer, 34, was arraigned in Superior Court Tuesday after being extradited from North Carolina.

Wearing a T-shirt that bore the words, “Fear is for others,” Palmer rocked back and forth on his feet as he stood before Judge Tracy Lee Dayton.

“The allegations are incredibly serious and very troubling,” the judge said, setting the bond and continuing the case to Sept. 18.

Palmer is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a child.

Police said Palmer raped the two 5-year-old girls, daughters of his former girlfriend, in their Stratford home in 2013.

Palmer lured the two girls into a bedroom while their mother was out, telling them he wanted to play a game, police said. He then showed them a pornographic video and took turns raping them as the girls screamed in terror, police said.

Police said the girls later told a counselor what Palmer had done to them.
