2-Year-Old Twin Saves Sister
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) _ A toddler who can barely talk managed to get a very important message across to her father: Save her identical twin sister from drowning.
Sheryl Katz was taking a shower Sunday while her husband, Gary, watched their daughters in the family playroom. When Katz went to the bathroom, the twins pushed out a door gate and managed to get out to the family pool. After Tarynn fell in, her sister, Kayla, ran to the other side of the house to get her father.
″This little 2-year-old girl is a real hero,″ said Joel Gordon, a spokesman for Broward County Fire-Rescue.
Kayla told her father, ″Bobbi pool 3/8 Bobbi pool 3/8″ The twins call each other by the name Bobbi, the parents said.
Katz ran to the pool and saw Tarynn floating face down. When he pulled her out she was blue but breathing.
Sheryl Katz, a nurse, wrapped the girl in a warm towel and waited for paramedics to arrive.
Tarynn was lethargic when paramedics arrived, but they treated her with oxygen and an intravenous solution that brought her around. She was taken to Coral Springs Medical Center for treatment and later released to her parents.
″It is so amazing that Kayla managed to get her father out to help,″ said the girls’ mother. ″She saved her sister’s life. I’m still shaking. I can’t believe it.″
