Trumbull 3rd-grader struck by vehicle

TRUMBULL - A 9-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle at Main and Pinehurst streets at around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.

“The (third-grade) Middlebrook student had run out onto the road and into the path of a southbound vehicle as she was trying to catch her school bus that had stopped on Pinehurst Street,” Capt. Keith Golding said in a release.

“She was struck by a vehicle that bus traveling on Main Street, as it drove around a Greater Bridgeport Transit bus that had also stopped for passengers at the same location.

Trumbull EMS transported the student to Bridgeport Hospital where she is being treated for a leg injury.

Golding said all vehicles and drivers remained on the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have been filed, but the investigation continues.
