Nationals haven’t heard from Bryce Harper in ‘a couple months,’ owner says
Washington Nationals owner Mark Lerner said the team has not heard from free agent Bryce Harper in “a couple months,” throwing water on the notion that the team and its former superstar could reunite before the 2019 season.
In an interview with NBC Sports Washington, Lerner said the team had “moved on” from pursuing Harper. The Nationals reportedly offered Harper a 10-year, $300 million contract in September that he rejected.

“There was no way we could wait around,” Lerner said. “Bryce, I’m sure will make his decision hopefully in the next few days, but we’ve filled out our roster and like I said, we wish him nothing but the best.”
The Philadelphia Phillies have been considered the favorites to sign Harper for months, and the San Francisco Giants have also made a push in recent weeks, according to reports.
