DURHAM, N.C. (AP) _ Sharon Bellamy scored six of her 19 points during a decisive 13-0 run early in the second half Saturday to lead Louisville to a 69-61 victory over Utah in the first round of the NCAA women’s West Regional.

Louisville (22-8), the No. 10 seed, trailed 34-32 after a see-saw first half, but grabbed a 45-36 lead early in the second and didn’t trail again. Bellamy scored on three straight possessions to spark the run, while Utah managed just one basket over the first 6:35 of the half.

Julie Krommenhoek sank five of her eight 3-point baskets in the second half in a vain attempt to rally the seventh-seeded Utes. Her last came with 1:47 remaining to play and got Utah within 63-59. Louisville iced the game with six straight free throws in the final 45 seconds.

Krommenhok finished with 28 points to end her career as the Western Athletic Conference’s leading scorer with 2,087 points. Angie Thill added 11 for Utah (21-6).

Louisville got 15 points from Roscelle Bullock and 13 from Jill Morton.

Working consistently inside, Bellamy made 5-of-9 shots from the field and 9-for-12 at the line.

Paced by Bellamy, Louisville was 23-for-45 from the floor and 19-for-24 at the line.

Utah hit 14 of its first 24 shots but ended up just 23-of-48 from the floor and went 5-for-15 at the line.

The Cardinals will meet the winner of Saturday’s Duke-Middle Tennessee game.
