Metallica donates $10,000 to local food bank
In the wake of Metallica’s performance Sunday night in Spokane, the band donated $10,000 to local nonprofit Second Harvest.
The band’s charitable foundation, All Within My Hands, tweeted a picture of band members Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Second Harvest employees holding a giant check.
“A portion of every ticket sold (from Sunday’s concert) is going directly to (Second Harvest) supporting them in their mission to fight hunger and feed hope,” the tweet stated.
Metallica sold out the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena for Sunday’s concert.
All Within My Hands also donated $10,000 to food banks in Idaho, Utah and Las Vegas following Metallica’s performances there. The foundation also gave $50,000 to Los Angeles firefighters and the Camp Fire Relief Fund after the wildfire that burned about 14,000 homes and left at least 88 dead.
Second Harvest started in 1971 and feeds more than 55,000 people in need in Eastern Washington and North Idaho every week.
