Hit-and-run driver sought in Missouri back-to-school crash
OVERLAND, Mo. (AP) — Authorities are asking for help finding a driver who fled after hitting and critically injuring a suburban St. Louis mother after she dropped off her child for the first day of classes.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that police say the motorist ran a red light before hitting the woman on the morning of Sept. 4 in a crosswalk near Marion Elementary in Overland. Police initially described her injuries as life-threatening but now say they expect her to recover.
Witnesses told police the driver might be a man, but they provided no detailed description. Police say the motorist was driving a black 2008 to 2015 Jeep Patriot. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
