Video found of grocery store dog thief in Stamford

January 22, 2019

STAMFORD - Police are about to release surveillance tape of the person who stole a Yorkshire terrier who was tied up outside Stop & Shop on Stamford’s West Side while the dog’s owner was shopping for dog food last week.

Capt. Tom Barcello said one of his officers was able to get the tape from store employees on Monday.

But the tape may be of limited value because it may not help identify the dog thief, he said.

Roshaun Henry, 27, tied her Yorky terrier outside the store shortly after 4 p.m on Wednesday, Jan. 16 and was in the store picking up chicken and dog food for about 10 minutes. When she returned, little Harlem was gone.

Since then Henry papered Alvord Lane, where she lives and where Stop & Shop is located, and other parts of her neighborhood with fliers begging for the return of her two-year-old dog. Harlem was wearing a gray jacket when he disappeared.

“He wasn’t there. Even his leash was gone,” Henry said Friday. “My puppy is very loved and I would like him returned to me. I take very good care of him and I would never abandon him. Please return Harlem safely back to me. He is a member of my family.”
